“My son is only two, but he has suffered more than most adults. I want to see him stand, walk, and play like other children. I only wish I could give him the life he deserves.”
Ruksana ; (Mother)
When Mohammed Altamas was around nine months old, his parents noticed something unusual. While other children his age began to sit, crawl, or try standing, little Altamas remained unable to do any of these. At first, his parents believed he would improve with time, but instead, his condition slowly worsened.
After several visits to doctors, Abdul and Ruksana received heartbreaking news. Altamas was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a condition caused by damage to the developing brain. In his case, it severely affects his lower limbs, making them stiff, weak, and difficult to control. This is why he cannot sit, stand, or walk. Along with this, he also suffers from an acute kidney injury which further weaken his tiny body.
The doctors at Choudhary Multispeciality Hospital, Mumbai Suburban, Maharashtra (3.9km from Nalasopara Railway Station), have advised a Right-sided Tendon of Achilles release with club foot correction and Pyeloplasty surgery to clear blockage near his kidney. This surgery is crucial; it will help loosen the tight muscles in his legs and correct the deformity in his foot, giving Altamas a real chance to stand and eventually walk and protect his kidney from damage.
The estimated cost of treatment is Rs. 3,50,000/- (Rupees Three Lakh Fifty Thousand Only), an amount far beyond the reach of Abdul, who works as a boatman and earns very little. With a family of five to support, and already burdened with debt, he is struggling to gather the funds needed to save his son’s future.
Little Altamas deserves the chance to move freely, to take his first steps, and to experience childhood without pain. Your kindness can help this young boy receive the treatment he urgently needs.
